Do I really need a special spoon for caviar?

Yes, if you want to taste caviar at its best. Metal spoons can leave a metallic taste that masks the delicate flavour of the pearls. Our Mother of Pearl Spoon is the traditional choice and keeps every note clean, from £7. Bone, glass or gold spoons work too, but never stainless steel or silver.

How many spoons will I need?

Allow one spoon per guest for tasting. If you're serving more than one variety, give each tin its own serving spoon so the flavours stay distinct. For a Caviar Tasting Selection, that means three or four serving spoons, plus one for each guest.

How do I open a caviar tin without damaging the pearls?

Take the tin straight from the fridge and rest it on a folded cloth. Slide the flat edge of our Caviar Tin Opener under the rim of the lid and lever gently, working around the edge until the seal releases. Then lift the lid straight up. Avoid knives or tin openers, which can slip and crush the pearls.

Why serve caviar over ice?

Caviar tastes best very cold, and it starts to lose its fresh, clean flavour as it warms. The LSA Handmade Caviar Set is a two-piece set of mouth-blown glass. The shallow dish sits over a chamber of crushed ice, so your caviar stays chilled while you serve.

How do I look after my accessories?

Hand wash your spoon and LSA set in warm, soapy water, then dry them straight away with a soft cloth. Keep them out of the dishwasher, and don't leave the spoon to soak.
